D. R. Edward
Notes: | Rejoice in the Lord Alway was originally attributed to Redford. It is now accepted that this anthem was not composed by John Redford. In the only early source the piece is anonymous and the text set did not become significant until the publication of the first Book of Common Prayer two years after Redford's death. The rhythm of the manuscript clearly points to the text of the Epistle for the 4th Sunday in Advent as found in the prayer book. |
